Eating, Drinking & Swallowing (EDS) Assessment & Therapy
Swallowing changes (also known as dysphagia) can occur following ABI, stroke or progressive neurological conditions. A specialist EDS assessment provides a clear understanding of risk, safety and support needs.
Support may include:
- Clinical swallowing assessment.
- Recommendations for safe textures, consistencies and strategies.
- Rehabilitation to improve swallow function where appropriate.
- Training for families, support workers and care teams.
- Liaison with medical teams, dietitians and MDT colleagues.
- Specialist advice, support and guidance on eating and drinking with acknowledged risks (EDAR).
The focus is always on safety, dignity and quality of life.
